Hi, I'm a W/Mo level 16, playing Factions.

I've worked my way through the primary quest line, as well as doing all the secondary quests along the way, bar quests such as 'The Captured Son'.

However, i've gotten to the point where i'm getting my ass handed to be on a plate. I'm gone across to the other ... much larger area, and i'm at The Undercity.

I'm just wondering if i've done something wrong, or missed something which could have resulted in me missing out on a lot of xp along the way

well.. being level 16, if you have max armor, you can still do pretty fine. there are a lot of factors in it that will get you "your ass handed to you on a plate".

examples being:
1: armor level (is it maxed for your proffession?)
2: are you taking enough monks with you?
3: are you dealing enough damage to kill them quick enough?
4: are you over-aggroing (pulling waayyyy too much)??

these are just 'some' of the factors that are involved. make sure you are 'not' doing the opposite of the listed above factors and you should be fine.

1: I'm using the Canthan which I got at Seitung Harbor
2: I'm just taking the npc henchman with me. (I don't know anyone to play with atm, only had the game 2 days =])
3: I think so, but as i said, i'm new =]
4: The henchmen tend to pull multiple packs when i'm trying to just pull one =/

I'm probably doing this all wrong :P my action bar setup is:

1: Power attack
2: Sever Artery
3: Gash
4: Frenzy
5: Watch Yourself
6: Distracting Blow
7: Spring
8: Silverwing Slash

1: Head north from the Marketplace, there you'll find Kaineng Center which will have max armor for your profession.

2: They're fine, make sure to take the Monk and Ritualist henchmen.

4: Equip a bow, use the henchmen flags to keep them around an aggro radius behind you and attack something to draw its attention toward you. Now either release the flag or move back toward your henchmen and fight.

Skillbar: Frenzy is quite deadly if you don't know when to stance cancel. You've got "Watch Yourself!" which is good, make sure you've got a decent amount of Tactics for it to provide a decent bonus. Power Attack is the biggest optional in your skillbar, should you want to switch something out.

I would keep either Power attack or Silverwing slash in there. Not both, just pick one. With a warrior, you don't want 5 zillion attack skills, because there are some good defensive options available to warriors as well. Watch Yourself is a solid skill and I'd keep it in there.

I also wouldn't use Distracting strike since the henchmen can interrupt a lot better than the majority of players (they run on computer reaction times, so they interrupt very quickly). I'd bring something like healing signet for a nice self heal in case the monks don't quite cut it for you.

One very important note though if you bring healing signet: DO NOT USE IT WHILE UNDER FRENZY. The -40 armor from Healing Signet is equivalent to double damage, and factoring in the double damage from frenzy it adds up to 4x as much damage taken as normal.

As someone mentioned before, don't be afraid to use Sprint to cancel out Frenzy in case you notice you're taking a lot of damage.

Also, what is your attribute point spread? Have you gotten the two attribute point quests from Shing Jea yet? If you haven't, here they are:

[wiki]An Unwelcome Guest[/wiki]

Interrupts packed by henchmen on the Canthan mainland:
Zho: Savage Shot
Lo Sha: Power Leech
Panaku: Beguiling Haze

It's not a bad thing to have an optional skill slot filled with an interrupt, especially since it can hit non-spells.

Thanks for everyone's replies, it's much appreciated =]

my attributes are currently 9 strength, 10 swordsmanship, 7 tactics =]

I haven't done an unwelcome guest yet. I've had a few tries at it, but the npc henchmen kept pulling several packs at once, or my healer wouldn't heal herself when she got the poison thing, or wouldn't heal others resulting in me with -60% res sickness

I'll be sure to try to control the henchmen, i didn't actually realise that's what the things under the minimap did

not that bad, at least you know a warrior deals damage.
Would replace power attack for Quivering Blade (easy cap and gives a few k exp)

Quivering Blade is an elite skill, so you'll have to cap it from a boss. There's a boss with that skill in Wajjun Bazaar on the mainland; find it, kill it, and then use a Signet of Capture on its corpse to learn Quivering Blade.

For a Signet of Capture, you can buy them from the skill trainer in Kaineng Center. There are also some quests in Kaineng Center that will give you a coupla free signets of capture as well.

Don't feel bad that Captured Son is giving you a lot of trouble. It's actually a really hard quest for the level most people are when they get to it. That's why you'll find a lot of level 20 people in town running it for a fee. If you have to, skip it till you're a little higher level (just leave the quest in your quest log) and move on, then come back later when you're higher level and do it. Or join a guild and ask them for help.

You might want to go back and do more quests to level up. A lot of people have had trouble with that quest so being a higher level will help.

A minion master makes all the difference in Cantha. But it doesn't come as a hench.

If you want, I can help you out with An Unwelcome Guest and Captured Son. I have a Minion Master that can really make those quests a LOT easier. My IGN is Kartok the Swift, feel free to PM me if I'm on. If I don't respond right away, I probably have GW minimized and I'll get to you in a couple mins.

As for your attributes, they look good so far. As you get more attribute points, I would max out swordsmanship and put the rest into Tactics or Strength.

And [skill]Quivering Blade[/skill] is a pretty good sword elite for Factions since it costs a low amount of adrenaline and does decent damage. The only downside (if you can really call it that) is you get dazed and the skill is disabled for 4 seconds (meaning it won't gain adrenaline until it recharges). You can capture it using a signet of capture from [wiki]Sun, the Quivering[/wiki].
